SINGAPORE - The Republic's silat exponents claimed their first and only gold of the 28th SEA Games when Nur Alfian won the men's tanding Class F (70-75kg) final on Sunday evening.
The defending SEA Games champion defeated world champion Tran Dinh Nam of Vietnam in a rousing match at the Singapore Expo Hall 2, even after suffering a foot injury in the second round that left a trail of blood on the mat.
The victory helped Alfian gain a measure of revenge against the Vietnamese, who had defeated him in the quarter-finals of the World Championships in January.
