Defending SEA Games netball champions Malaysia thrashed Myanmar 84-22 in a thoroughly one-sided match at the OCBC Arena on Sunday.

Anchored by veteran captain Yap Suo Kuen in defence, the Malaysian team ruthlessly disposed of their Myanmar counterparts with fast, fluid movement and accurate passing.

Their 1.85m-tall goal shooter Norashikin Kamalzaman was on fire, scoring 47 goals out of 57 attempts, as the Myanmar defenders struggled against her height.

Yap was pleased with the performance of the team but expressed surprise at the game's lopsided scoreline, saying: "It's our first time playing against them, so we didn't know what to expect.

"But their shooters really amazed us."

Yap was referring to Khin Sandar Kyaw, who scored 21 of her country's 22 goals.
