National netball team sponsored by Japanese athletic equipment company Asics

Singapore's national netballers will be decked out from head to toe in Asics gear from this year onwards.

The Japanese label has signed a year-long sponsorship deal worth an undisclosed amount with the reigning Asian champions and will supply the team with training apparel, competition gear and shoes.

The announcement was made at the official opening of Asics' new concept store in Paragon on Thursday.

Andy Zhao, chief executive officer of Runner's World - the brand's distributor in South-east Asia - gave assurance that Asics plans on supporting the team long-term with a view on the Asian Championships held here next year.

Said Cyrus Medora, chief executive officer of Netball Singapore: "Asics has supported Netball Singapore since 2009 and this extension of their sponsorship to kit the players out from top to toe is really an excellent development for netball.

"We are very grateful for their support and look forward to a continuing strong relationship with them."
