Match points: Man City v Chelsea

Yaya Toure v Nemanja Matic

Two colossal figures who have had a considerable impact. Matic was the outstanding defensive midfielder in England last season, Toure the best attacking one the previous campaign, when he scored 24 times. A scorer's display at West Brom led Pellegrini to say Toure is back to his best, but he still needs to show he can track back in such games.

Raheem Sterling v Branislav Ivanovic

Normally so reliable, Ivanovic had a traumatic time against Swansea's speedy winger Jefferson Montero last week. The Serb, who scored Chelsea's 2014 winner at the Etihad, faces another quick opponent in Sterling. The most expensive English player ever will make his home debut after a promising bow at West Brom.

Vincent Kompany v Diego Costa

Like Toure, Kompany had a restorative evening at the Hawthorns after a difficult year last season. He fought a memorable battle with Costa in their 1-1 draw at the Etihad last September. He may go into the reunion in better shape. The Chelsea striker missed the Community Shield with hamstring trouble, though he faced Swansea last week.
