SINGAPORE - The inaugural night edition of The Color Run, a first for South-east Asia, took place on Saturday night (Sept 23) at Sentosa Island.

The fifth edition of the annual event, presented by CIMB Bank, drew more than 9,000 participants.

The 5km run featured an array of glow-in-the-dark colour zones and illuminating bubbles in the foam zone, while runners were showered in a variety of brightly contrasting neon powders.

Mak Lye Mun, chief executive of CIMB Bank Singapore and country head of CIMB Group Singapore, said: "It was an evening to remember as the 2017 iteration of The Color Run in Singapore added a different dimension to the event with its night theme, a first in South-east Asia."

Added IMG Asia Pacific vice-president Greg Hooton: "We aim to always give our valued Color Runners a fresh new experience each time they participate, and we're thrilled that today's first night edition in Singapore was so well received.

"We're also very proud of our continued partnership with CIMB Bank Singapore, and truly appreciate having them on board as presenting sponsor once again this year."

This year's event also featured the 20 finalists of the Miss Universe Singapore 2017 pageant. They ran alongside the women and children of their supported charity, Daughters of Tomorrow, which enables and empowers women through confidence-building, skills development and job placements.

Cara Nicole Neo said: "This is the first time that I've ever participated in a run and The Color Run is just great fun.

"Running along the various glow zones with my fellow Miss Universe Singapore finalists surrounded by the laughter and smiles of kids from Daughters of Tomorrow made this Run truly the Happiest 5K on the planet. I will definitely sign up for the next edition again."

The Color Run was held in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 13 and will next be staged in Jakarta on Oct 1 as part of CIMB Group's sponsorship in three Asean cities.
