Thais win gold in men's and women's goalball

Defending champions Thailand retained their titles for both men and women, on the final day of goalball action yesterday at Marina Bay Sands Expo Hall D.

The Thai men beat Malaysia 16-6 to claim gold, while the women's team trounced Laos 10-0, both reaching the maximum 10-goal margin.

Indonesia and Myanmar settled for bronze in the men's and women's categories respectively.


S'pore finish sixth in wheelchair basketball

Hosts Singapore ended their 5-on-5 wheelchair basketball campaign at the Asean Para Games yesterday with a 26-41 loss to Laos. The team finished last among six teams.

Singapore captain Choo Poh Choon delivered a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Laotian player Paphatsalang Khammany scored a game-high 27 points.

Thailand claimed the gold by beating Malaysia 62-36. Philippines secured the bronze after a 62-38 win over Myanmar.
