Ice skating: Singapore bag five medals at final leg of Tri-Series South East Asia Cup

SINGAPORE - A credible outing at the recently concluded Tri-Series South East Asia Cup was seen as an encouraging sign by Singapore national coach Chun Lee Kyung.

The Series, which began in February in Singapore, ended last weekend in Melbourne. Singapore's team captain Lucas Ng finished third overall in the men's division while teammate Danielle Han clinched silver in the ladies division.

Youth skaters Trevor Tan and Aiden Chan, 13 and 12 respectively, won bronzes in the Junior C and D boys categories while Suvian Chua, 19, took silver in the ladies junior A division.

Said Chun: "Despite the tough field, both our Singapore senior and junior skaters demonstrated a very strong fighting spirit and most in fact delivered new personal bests. I am looking forward to building a very strong team for major games moving forward."

The South Korean, who is a four-time Olympic gold medallist and triple overall world champion, joined the national set-up last November.

Earlier last week, the Republic's junior skater also competed at the 4th ISU World Development Trophy. Suvian and Trevor both won silver in their respective divisions.
