Help from ex-EPL stars as Courts Young Lions gear up for SEA Games

National Under-23 coach Aide Iskandar can count on help from an unlikely source as he prepares his charges for the upcoming SEA Games football tournament.

The team, who play under the Courts Young Lions banner in the domestic S-League, will get to meet at least three former English Premier League stars, including ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole, ahead of the biennial meet. The stars will meet the team, and share their experiences of playing at the top level and winning trophies on a regular basis.

Said Courts Singapore chief executive officer Terry O'Connor, at the Courts Young Lions season launch: "We are pleased to support the Courts Young Lions for a fifth year and contribute to the development of local football. The SEA Games represent an opportunity to unite Singaporeans... and we are excited to work together with the Football Association of Singapore."

Aide, meanwhile, called on local football fans to come down and support his team.

He said: "Playing in the S-League, especially this season, where many teams have strengthened considerably, will be a good experience for the team and help prepare us for the SEA Games.

"We have a good group of exciting young players who are motivated to do well.. I know the boys will definitely be inspired by your support in this final phase of their preparations for the SEA Games."
