NANNING (AFP) - Japan's Kohei Uchimura won a record-stretching fifth straight all-around title at the world gymnastics championships on Thursday in the south-western Chinese city of Nanning.

The 25-year-old 2012 London Olympics all-around champion collected 91.965 points through six apparatus events, with Britain's Max Whitlock second at 90.473.

Japan's Yusuke Tanaka was third at 90.449.

Uchimura was the defending champion, and also won in 2009, 2010 and 2011. World championships are not held in Olympic years.
