WASHINGTON (AFP) - Jason Dufner holed out from the fairway for an eagle en route to a second straight 65 and a record-setting 36-hole total at the US PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament on Friday (June 2).

Dufner held the second-round clubhouse lead on 14-under 130, one stroke better than the previous 36 hole record set by Scott Hoch at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, in 1987 and matched by Rickie Fowler in 2010.

Dufner had a six-stroke lead over Fowler, who was in the clubhouse with a 66 for 136.

On the course, Daniel Summerhays was eight-under through eight holes while Sweden's David Lingmerth, who shared the first-round lead with Dufner, was seven-under for the tournament through six.

Dufner's bogey-free round was highlighted by an eagle at the par-4 18th, his ninth hole of the day.

His second shot, from 175 yards out in the center of the fairway, landed past the pin and spun back into the hole.

He added five more birdies to cement his lead as Fowler, who started the day tied for 13th on two-under, climbed up the leaderboard with a six-under effort that included three birdies in a row.

Australian Adam Scott made the biggest move of the morning. Tied for 82nd to start the day, he was tied for 22nd when he walked off the course after a 66 that included an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys.
