SINGAPORE - Up-and-coming South Korean golfer An Byeong Hun, who was named the European Tour's 2015 Rookie of the Year, has confirmed his participation in the SMBC Singapore Open next month.

The world No. 28, whose maiden campaign on the European Tour included victory in the BMW PGA Championship, will join the likes of world No. 1 Jordan Spieth, and Major champions Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland and Yang Yong Eun.

Said An, who was the youngest winner of the US Amateur Championships at 17: "I have heard a lot about the Singapore Open from fellow players, and cannot wait to play the tournament.

"The competition for the title will be fierce with a lot of great players in the field. Any time Jordan Spieth is in the line-up, there is a special buzz about the tournament."

The Singapore Open is returning after a three-year hiatus, and will be held at the Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course.

The US$1 million (S$1.41 million) event will feature the top 60 from the Asian Tour, top 60 from the Japan Golf Tour Organisation, leading Singapore professionals and amateurs, and invites including players from the top 50 in the world.
