It's back! Sebastian Vettel's index-finger salute, that is.

The German Formula One driver was celebrating snaring pole position last night for today's Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.

It was Ferrari's first pole since the German Grand Prix in 2012. More significantly, Vettel's success meant world and defending Singapore champion Lewis Hamilton's run of consecutive poles in a season ended at seven, falling one short of matching Ayrton Senna's record of eight.

The Briton was only fifth-fastest.
