Survival Tips for the F1 weekend

Dress for comfort

Put on your sturdiest pair of shoes as you will most likely be walking a lot.

Be prepared to get your shoes wet as it might get muddy in areas such as the Padang.

Pack light

There will be bag checks upon entering the circuit, so pack only essential items such as cash, wet wipes and a spare battery or portable charger for your smartphone if you are going to be there for a while.

No food and drink are allowed into the circuit park except for one clear plastic bottle of soft drink or 600ml or less of mineral water.

It is going to be loud

Brace yourself for the eardrum-busting roar of race car engines, so invest in a pair of earplugs.

The official survival kit, priced at $2, includes earplugs and a poncho. Proceeds from sales of the kit will go to St John Ambulance Brigade Singapore.

Plan in advance

Study the circuit park map available online at singaporegp.sg so you do not waste precious time navigating on the day itself. Or download the free official Singapore GP mobile app.

Check your tickets

Make sure you have the correct ticket. You do not want to be all ready to party at the event, only to realise you brought Sunday's pass on Saturday.

Opt for public transport

Instead of worrying about the limited parking around the circuit park, take the train. Most gates are within walking distance of an MRT station.

The frequency of train services will be increased during the three days. Train hours are extended at City Hall MRT station until 1.30am on Sept 19 and 1.10am on Sept 20 and 21.

Zone 1 ticketholders can take the free shuttle bus between Lavender MRT station and Gate 1 of the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

There is a surcharge of $5 for cabs leaving from the taxi stands around the area in the late evening.
