SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (AFP) - World champion Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the overall Formula One standings with his sixth win of the season on Sunday, taking the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

The 30-year-old Briton, whose previous win in Belgium was in 2010 when with McLaren, came home clear of his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Frenchman Romain Grosjean took third in a Lotus for his 10th career podium finish but first since the US Grand Prix in 2013.

Ferrari failed to fire on their 900th race with Sebastian Vettel seeing his chances of a podium finish disappear when his tyre blew on the penultimate lap.
