Fast track through racing history

EARLY birds must have thought they had taken a step back in time yesterday. Action at the Marina Bay Street Circuit revved off yesterday with the Masters Historic Formula One race, featuring 20 GP cars from 1966 to 1985.

Briton Ollie Hancock claimed victory in a majestic yellow Fittipaldi F5A, completing 12 laps of the 5.065km circuit in 27min 13.420sec to beat the March 761 of Aaron Scott. Third spot went to the Brabham BT49C of Joaquin Folch. The biggest winners, though, were the fans who had an up-close look at the vintage rides.
