F1 ace meets No. 1 fan

Formula One ace Jenson Button hugging IT systems engineer Yasser Abdul Razak at the Esso station in Toa Payoh Lorong 2 yesterday. The Briton had left the swanky confines of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, venue of this weekend's Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, for the heartland to surprise a fan at an event hosted by McLaren-Honda sponsor Esso. Mr Yasser was the winner of Esso's "Who is Singapore's biggest McLaren-Honda fan?" social media competition. His prize was a car wash by a McLaren F1 "pit crew", tickets to this weekend's night race, fuel vouchers from Esso and McLaren-Honda memorabilia autographed by Button.

Other F1 drivers who made public appearances yesterday included world champion Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Haas Ferrari's Romain Grosjean.
