SEPANG - Three-time world champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull grabbed pole position at the Malaysian Grand Prix on Saturday.
The German pipped the Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso in the rain-hit qualifying session.
It was the second pole in a row and 38th overall for Vettel, who also topped the grid at last weekend's Australian Grand Prix but struggled with his tyres and eventually finished third in the season opener.
Brazilian Massa put in another good shift at the Sepang circuit outside of Kuala Lumpur. He had struggled for most of 2012, leading to talk that he would be replaced, but he has now qualified ahead of Alonso, a two-time world champion, for the second race in a row.
Australian GP winner Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus qualified seventh, the same as last weekend.
