Goals, feints and fancy skills were on show at yesterday's inaugural Tamil Murasu five-a-side futsal tournament, featuring 22 teams comprising children aged 10 to 12. Young Cubs emerged victors in the S. Chandra Das Cup (named after Singapore's non-resident high commissioner to Sri Lanka and chairman of Tamil Murasu) and earned $1,200 worth of vouchers, in the one-day competition held at The Arena in Woodleigh Park. The event also included an exhibition match between a team of former internationals, such as Terry Pathmanathan and S. Subramani, against a Singapore Parliament side that included Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung and Members of Parliament Teo Ser Luck and Pritam Singh.
