Record: W1, D2, L2

Best remembered for: United fought to keep hold of Wayne Rooney, who was upset by comments made by Moyes.

What happened next: Moyes' men finished seventh, their lowest Premier League finish. The Scot was sacked before the end of the season.

2014

Manager: Louis van Gaal

Where: United States

Record: W4, D1, L0

Best remembered for: Setting a record US attendance of 109,318 for their match against Real Madrid.

What happened next: After leaving the Netherlands job for United, van Gaal was able to bring Champions League football back at the first time of asking as United finished fourth.

2015

Manager: Louis van Gaal

Where: United States

Record: W3, D0, L1

Best remembered for: Robin van Persie leaving.

What happened next: Van Gaal failed to deliver consecutive seasons of Champions League football, but did win the FA Cup before being sacked.
