Transfer talk: Foxes to land Maguire

FOXES TO LAND MAGUIRE

Craig Shakespeare is poised to make his first significant signing as Leicester manager with the £17 million (S$30 million) recruitment of Hull centre-back Harry Maguire.

Leicester have agreed to pay an initial £12 million for Maguire with a potential £5 million in add-ons.

Shakespeare, who agreed to a three-year deal to remain as Leicester's manager last week, had made a central defender a priority in his summer recruitment plans with 33-year-old Wes Morgan, the captain, and Robert Huth, 32, his long-standing defensive partner, both ageing.

BAYERN'S RECORD SIGNING

German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday broke their transfer record to sign versatile midfielder Corentin Tolisso for €41.5 million (S$64 million), with the 22-year-old France international penning a five-year deal.

Tolisso comes from French Ligue One club Lyon, whom he joined as a teenager. He became Bayern's biggest transfer, beating the previous €40 million fee spent on Javi Martinez in 2012.

REDS MOVE FOR POLE

Liverpool have lodged a £25 million (S$44.12 million) bid for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, although that is well short of the Poland international's £61 million release clause.

Tottenham are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old, just in case Barcelona swoop for Christian Eriksen.
