UNITED TO UP MORATA BID

Manchester United are set to increase their offer for Alvaro Morata to £60 million (S$107 million) after their first bid of around £52 million for the striker was rejected by Real Madrid.

Negotiations with Real have been ongoing this week, with the LaLiga and Champions League winners asking for about £78 million.

However, United are understood to be confident of persuading the Real president, Florentino Perez, to settle for a reduced fee if they can pay the majority of it up front.

SPURS MULLING OVER GINTER MOVE

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund and Germany centre-half Matthias Ginter. Mauricio Pochettino was interested in Ginter last summer, and the Spurs manager admires him for his tactical flexibility and comfort on the ball.

The 23-year-old is also a target for Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, who value him at around €17 million (S$26 million).
