IN THE WORKS

John Stones, 22, defender
(Everton to Manchester City)

Manchester City are stepping up their interest in John Stones after the English central defender indicated to Everton that he is keen on moving to the Etihad Stadium to work under Pep Guardiola.

City are intent on adding a high-class centre-back given the uncertainty over Vincent Kompany's long-term fitness and the faltering form of Eliaquim Mangala, but Stones could cost about £40 million (S$71.3 million).

Negredo, 30, forward
(Valencia to Middlesbrough)

Middlesbrough hope to strike a deal that will bring the Valencia forward Alvaro Negredo to the Riverside Stadium.

The newly promoted English side have opened talks over the former Manchester City frontman as their head coach, Aitor Karanka, looks to boost the firepower at his disposal in the Premier League.

DONE

Willian, 27, midfielder
(Chelsea)

Willian has extended his deal at Chelsea by two years to 2020.

The Brazil forward had been a target for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United but has chosen to stay at the London club he joined in 2013.

Ashley Fletcher, 20, striker (Manchester United to West Ham) West Ham have signed the England Under-20 international Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United, where he was out of contract.

The 20-year-old, who has signed a four-year deal, spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley.

Lucas Digne, 22, defender
(PSG to Barcelona)

France international defender Lucas Digne has joined Barcelona on a five-year deal, reportedly worth €16.5 million (S$24.7 million), from Paris Saint-Germain.

The left-back spent last season on a successful loan deal at Roma and had been expected to move there permanently.
