Terry offered 1-year deal

LONDON • John Terry has been offered a one-year contract extension and is considering the offer, Chelsea have announced.

Chelsea's captain and his agent met the club's hierarchy this week to discuss his future at Stamford Bridge and it was widely expected that he would be released at the expiry of his latest one-year deal, on June 30.

Instead, the directors Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck offered Terry a fresh deal to continue next season under the incoming coach, Antonio Conte.

Chelsea tweeted: "It is announced in the press conference that John Terry has been offered a one-year contract extension. John is considering the offer."

Terry's dismissal against Sunderland last weekend means he will not feature again this season, missing the visit of Leicester City tomorrow.
