LONDON • Claudio Ranieri will earn a £5 million (S$9.82 million) bonus if his Leicester City side lift the Premier League title.
A win against Manchester United tomorrow will seal the perfect finale to their fairy-tale season, while triggering a £5 million payment separate to the clause in the Italian's contract that rewards him with £100,000 for every place that his team finish above 18th.
When asked about whether his players would receive a bonus for the title, Ranieri said: "I don't know if there is a clause (for the players) and I don't tell you." It was agreed last summer that a £6.5 million bonus pot would be shared by the players should they finish 12th or above.
Ranieri, 64, has had discussions about an improved contract, having indicated that he wants to see out his career at the club. He earns about £1.5 million a year at present. THE TIMES, LONDON
