Ticket-holders for today's World Cup qualifier at the National Stadium will not get a refund if the game is cancelled or postponed.

A Football Association of Singapore (FAS) spokesman said last night: "Should the Singapore v Afghanistan match be rescheduled due to the persistent haze situation, fans who had purchased tickets are advised to retain the ticket stubs and produce them for re-entry to the rescheduled match.

"There is no refund if the match is rescheduled... We will discuss with our partners the possibility of granting a refund to the fans who are not able to attend the rescheduled match."

The FAS said the match would proceed if the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) is below 201 before the 8pm kick-off.

Its statement said: "Should the air quality deteriorate into the 'Very Unhealthy' range closer to kick-off, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) match officials will assess the situation and decide on the most appropriate course of action."

It has advised fans to monitor its website and Facebook page from 5pm, where they can receive updates on the status of the match.

Retiree Danny Goh, who intends to take his 14-year-old son to the game, said: "If it's cancelled, then a refund should be offered. It's like what would normally happen when a concert is cancelled.

"We've spent about $50 on the tickets, it's not cheap, you know."

Last Saturday, the finals on the first day of the Fina Swimming World Cup were cancelled after the three-hour PSI level reached 190 and continued rising. But fans were eligible for a ticket refund.

In the S-League, several games have been postponed owing to the three-hour PSI exceeding 150.
