Everton defender John Stones has been signed by Manchester City for £47.5million (S$83.1 million) in a deal that makes him the second most expensive defender in history.

The England international has signed a six-year deal and becomes Pep Guardiola's sixth signing of the summer.

The transfer was confirmed by both clubs after Stones, 22, was included in City's official Champions League squad, published on the Uefa website before the transfer was made public.
