Football: Tottenham cruise to 4-0 win over Liverpool to lift Lion City Cup

SINGAPORE - Tottenham Hotspur had won the 26th Lion City Cup after a convincing 4-0 win over Liverpool at Jalan Besar Stadium on Sunday evening.

The final, which pitted the Under-15 sides of both English Premier League teams, was a high-tempo affair with both teams playing aggressive and attacking football.

In a dominant performance, Spurs controlled the match largely through the physical presence of towering midfielder Tashan Oakley Boothe and the silky playmaking of Nya Kirby.

Forward Rodel Richards gave Spurs the lead by firing home from a tight angle inside the box after just six minutes.

On the stroke of half-time, attacking midfielder Kirby doubled the lead from the penalty spot after forward Paul Glatzel handled the ball inside the box.

And in the 65th minute, forward Rodel Richards exchanged passes with towering midfielder Boothe before surging past the defence to power the ball into the net past goalkeeper George Neave.

The rout was complete in stoppage time when defender Reo Griffiths hammered a piledriver from 25 metres out into the top corner to leave the Reds comprehensively beaten.
