Football: Rooney misses out for United against Stoke

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) - Striker Wayne Rooney was not included in the Manchester United squad for their Premier League home game with Stoke City on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old England captain sustained a knee injury in the latter stages of United's 3-0 victory at home to Hull City on Saturday, in which he scored his fifth goal of the season.

His place in the starting XI was taken by 19-year-old English striker James Wilson, who lined up alongside Robin van Persie in attack.

Fourth-place United were bidding to record a fourth consecutive league victory.
