Football: Ronaldo surpasses 500 career goals, equals Raul record

MALMÖ, Sweden (AFP) - Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed 500 career goals in Wednesday's (Sept 30) Champions League group stage match away to Malmo.

Ronaldo, 30, netted his 500th and 501st goals to propel Madrid to a 2-0 victory against the Swedish champions in the Group A clash, also extending his record Champions League tally to 82.

Additionally, the Portuguese star equalled Real legend Raul's club record of 323, while setting a new Madrid Champions League record with his 67th goal for the Spanish giants.

Ronaldo reached the landmark in his 753rd game with 118 goals coming during his time at Manchester United, five while at boyhood club Sporting Lisbon and 55 for Portugal.
