SINGAPORE - Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has joined the list of ex-internationals in the Battle Of Europe 2016 match between England and Germany Masters footballers at the National Stadium.
He will be joined by former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer for the Nov 12 clash at Kallang.
Scholes said: "Matches against Germany are always memorable and the Battle of Europe is no different. I've always enjoyed my trips to Singapore and it will be extra special for me this November and I am looking forward to playing alongside my team mates in a couple of months."
"We're very excited that Scholes is joining us for the Battle Of Europe in Singapore this year. He played with the team in Hong Kong last year and drilled one into the back of the net. He's still a game changer and retirement hasn't slowed him down one bit!" added Steve Black, CEO of Masters Football Asia.
Scholes is known to be one of the best midfielders of his generation, famed for his passing ability and long-range shooting. He earned 66 England caps, scoring 14 times. Palmer, who also played in the English Premier League for Leeds United and represented his country 18 times, scoring once.
Earlier, stars of yesteryears like David James, Teddy Sheringham and Steve McManaman had confirmed their attendance to play for the Three Lions for the Masters showpiece. In the opposing camp, Lothar Matthaus, Mario Basler and Karl-Heinz Riedle are some of the ex-Germany internationals who will be facing them.
