SINGAPORE - Everton's summer signings Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu have been named in the club's squad for next week's Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore.

They will form part of manager Roberto Matinez's travelling 24-man party that will contest the four-team invitational tournament.

The 25-year-old Cleverley, who was on loan last season at Aston Villa, joined the Toffees at the start of this month after his contract expired at Manchester United.

This will be Barcelona academy product Deulofeu's second spell at Goodison Park after he spent the 2013/14 season on loan and helped Everton to a fifth-placed finish that campaign.

Last month, the 21-year-old signed a three-year-contract - with the option of a further year - in a deal worth £4.2 million (S$8.85 million).

Everton will face Stoke City at the National Stadium on July 15 with the winner set to take on either Arsenal or a Singapore Singapore Select XI three days later.

Said Martinez: "When you are abroad it is different. We are going to compete for a trophy and it's the opportunity to get into a final and you are facing opposition that is going to be very helpful to reach a physical level that is going to help us start the season well.

"So I do feel there's a real positive to face Premier League opposition when you are in a tournament of this magnitude."

The Spaniard will be able to call upon a team full of international experience with the likes of Belgium duo Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas, England internationals John Stones, Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley and United States goalkeeper Tim Howard all making the trip.

Also included will be some of England's most promising youngsters like Under-21 quartet Brendan Galloway, Conor McAleny, Tyias Browning and Luke Garbutt, the latter having participated in last month's Under-21 Uefa European Championships in the Czech Republic.

Martinez felt that tournament in the Republic offered the "perfect" preparation ahead of his side's Barclays Premier League opener at home against newly-promoted Watford on August 8.

He said: "We're heading to something completely different that I do feel is going to be perfect in trying to reach a really competitive level quicker than any other pre-season due to the pedigree of this tournament."
