SINGAPORE - The LionsXII closed out their Malaysia Super League (MSL) campaign in style with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sime Darby at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday evening.

In the 11 matches they have played at home, the LionsXII have emerged victorious in eight, while settling for draws in the other three matches. In the process, they have netted 25 goals and conceded only 10.

Goals from Safuwan Baharudin and Khairul Amri in the first-half and an unstoppable second-half strike from Hafiz Abu Sujad ensured that the LionsXII finished the season unbeaten at home.

Safuwan netted his fifth goal of the season when he headed in Christopher van Huizen's corner in the 12th minute.

Amri then added the game's second from the spot in first-half stoppage time after Sime Darby's Saiful Hasnu was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

Hafiz then added gloss to the score line when he latched onto van Huizen's pass before curling a superb right-footed strike into the top corner in the 73rd minute.

The LionsXII will now gear up for the Malaysia Cup which is slated to begin on Sept 11.
