Liverpool's all-time record scorer Ian Rush will lace up his boots once more as he leads the Liverpool Masters team as its player-manager to take on the Singapore Ex-Internationals side in a football exhibition match at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Nov 15.

Rush, who netted 346 goals for the Reds, will bring a squad brimming with popular Liverpool stars like Robbie Fowler, Jari Litmanen and Steve McManaman. The 52-year-old's role was announced on Thursday by Patrik Berger, another fan favourite of the Reds who is in the squad.

The match is sponsored by real estate company Castlewood Group.

"Ian is one of my footballing heroes and I'm excited to be playing alongside him for the first time ever," said Berger at the Westin Singapore.

Facing them will be former Lions like Aide Iskandar, Aleksandar Duric and S. Subramani. To ensure that Reds goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek will be tested, the Singapore veterans will unleash the deadly strikeforce of V. Sundramoorthy and Fandi Ahmad.

The match will also serve as 44-year-old striker Duric's testimonial game as he is set to hang up his boots at the end of this S-League season.

"I feel sad that I won't be playing professionally anymore," said Duric. "(But) I am looking forward to closing this chapter of my life and embarking on new adventures."
