Football: Former Dynamo Kiev skipper Bialkevich dies at 41

KIEV (AFP) - Former Dynamo Kiev captain and Belarus international Valentin Bialkevich has died suddenly as a result of a blood clot at the age of 41, the club reported on Friday.

He turned out 317 times and scored 70 goals for Dynamo after joining the side in 1996 from Dynamo Minsk.

The midfielder helped Kiev win seven Ukrainian titles and six domestic cups.

Bialkevich was capped 56 times, scoring 10 goals, for Belarus.

After hanging up his boots, he became a coach with Dynamo Kiev's youth squad.
