Football festivals to be held from Sept 10-11

SINGAPORE - Two Fifa "Live Your Goals" festivals will take place at Queensway Secondary School and Bowen Secondary School on Sept 10 and 11 respectively, as part of Fifa's campaign to inspire girls and women to play football.

The festivals are open to the public, and entry is free. On the programme of both festivals are a football clinic, small-sided games and the chance to meet Singapore's national women footballers.

Both the Queensway and Bowen centres will offer free weekly "Live Your Goals" sessions, open to all girls aged six to 15. The third centre at Coral Primary School is only open to students of the school.

Said general manager of women's football and volunteer management Julie Teo: "We hope to see more girls and women at our weekly sessions and at the festivals on Sept 10 and 11, coming with their families and friends. "It is our goal to have more girls and women play football regularly, and raise the profile of women's football in Singapore."

Those interested in attending the weekly sessions are encouraged to register earlier by writing in to women_football@fas.org.sg. Participants should come in sports attire and football boots or running shoes.
