The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has signed a $25 million, six-year deal with international sports media rights company MP & Silva.

This is the biggest commercial partnership for the FAS, eclipsing the $15 million, 10-year deal signed in 2001 with Tiger Beer.

MP & Silva, an Italy-based company, will cover the global media rights to the FAS' national and age-group teams, sponsorship rights and international events for the Lions and national age-group squads.

FAS will also be able to tap on its new sponsor's extensive network to arrange overseas training stints and friendly matches involving the national team.

The company is targeting four to six high-profile matches a year involving international teams and clubs lining up against the Singapore national team.

Said FAS president Zainudin Nordin: "This is a major milestone in Singapore football. MP & Silva is an important key player in the football industry.

"It will also help us to ensure that our elite programmes are enhanced through this partnership."
