SINGAPORE - Radamel Falcao will be a formidable force under Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and get his revenge against former employers Manchester United, according to former Blues midfielder Emmanuel Petit.

Once the most feared striker in the world, the Colombian struggled with injuries and inconsistency for the Reds Devils last season, scoring just four times in 29 appearances.

"Yes, it was tough for him before but if there's anyone who can get the best of Falcao, it's that man Mourinho," Petit, 44, told The Straits Times on Friday.

"He has good friends in the team too like Juan Cuadrado and Diego Costa. When a player of his calibre gets going again and has something to prove, the English Premier League better watch out."

Petit, a World Cup winner with France in 1998, is in Singapore to launch the Eleven Sports Network, a three-channel offering that showcases the likes of the Italian Serie A, English FA Cup and the English Championship.

The midfielder, who had a distinguished career with Arsenal, will be a pundit for its coverage of Sunday's Community Shield clash between the Gunners and Chelsea. Available on SingTel TV Channels 109, 110 and 111, the network will also have rugby, baseball and basketball programming.
