Football: Eurosport secures rights to Champions League until 2018

Eurosport announced on Thursday that it has secured exclusive media rights for the UEFA Champions League in Singapore until 2018.

Singtel has owned the media rights to Europe's top football competition since 2009. Eurosport, which is part of US media giant Discovery Communications, is currently only available on StarHub's channels.

Beginning from the 2015/2016 season, Eurosport will broadcast one live match on Tuesdays and one live match on Wednesdays for the entire season. A highlight show will follow each live match and all additional matches will be made available to viewers online through OTT.

Said Eurosport's chief executive Peter Hutton: "Champions League on Eurosport in Singapore is a game changer for our presence in Asia. We are excited to bring passionate local sports fans this premium offering and are committed to continued investment in high quality sports.

"Eurosport already boasts an improved line-up in Asia Pacific with both US Open tennis and the Tour de France. With the addition of mid-week live premier football in Singapore, we will ensure Eurosport becomes even stronger across the region."
