Football: Bayern will play pre-season friendlies in Singapore

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich will be playing two friendlies in Singapore as part of their 2017 Asia summer tour.

At a media event in Germany to introduce ex-Bayern players Giovane Elber, Bixente Lizarazu and Hasan Salihamidzic as new club ambassadors, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We will have two games in China and two games in Singapore."

Confirmation of the tour was also announced on the Bundesliga's official website but no details about the dates and ticket allocation have been announced as of yet.

Bayern, who hammered Arsenal 5-1 in their Champions League last-16 first leg clash on Wednesday, last played in Singapore in June 1983 when Singapore notched a shock 2-1 win at the National Stadium.

Bayern are five-time European champions and have won the German championship a record 26-times.

Rivals Borussia Dortmund conducted meet-and-greet sessions with local fans in July 2015 prior to playing a friendly game with Malaysia Super League outfit Johor Darul Ta'zim.
