Euro 2016: Hairstyles that are head and shoulders above the competition

Some players did not just allow their feet do the talking at the Euros, but caught the fans' attention with their hairstyles as well. The Straits Times takes a look at some of the most wacky hairdos that have made their appearance in France.

1. Paul Pogba, 23 (France, midfielder)

Unpredictability is the norm when it comes to Pogba's hairstyles. The former Manchester United starlet has sported a plethora of wacky hairdos in recent times, including leopard prints and a minion from the animated comedy Despicable Me. His latest hairstyle draws inspiration from the France Football Federation cockerel, which has been 'carved' into the right side of his head.

2. Marek Hamsik, 28 (Slovakia, forward)

Upright mohawks have been a mainstay on Hamsik's head, but he completed the look with a pair of round-framed glasses at a pre-match conference before his side's Group B clash with Wales.

Mohawks also appear to be a permanent fixture for the Roma midfielder, although his comes with a blond twist. Nainggolan's style bears remarkable similarities to the red bushy crests on the top of Roman soldiers' helmets.

4. Aaron Ramsey, 25 (Wales, midfielder)

Similarly going for the blond look at the Euros is Welshman Ramsey, who surprised even his own team-mates when he turned up for training with a bleached head. His country's future in the tournament is as bright as his hair at the moment, as they top Group B after beating Slovakia 2-1 in their opening game.

5. Sergio Ramos, 30 (Spain, defender)

The Spanish skipper may have ditched his famous locks a few years ago, but his love affair with hair evidently has not ended, as demonstrated by his beard. "Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin" may be a phrase La Roja's opponents have to start getting used to when they come against the stalwart in Spain's defence.

6. Stephan El Shaarawy, 23 (Italy, forward)

In a team full of undercut heads, it is El Shaarawy's hedgehog-like style that stands out. The young Italian forward once sported an outstanding mohawk as well, but has opted for more volume for this tournament.

7. David Alaba, 23 (Austria, defender)

You'd be forgiven for mistaking Alaba's ginger curls for a floss bun. The Bayern Munich man typically wore a buzzcut during his early days as a youth team player, but has opted for something more outrageous recently.
