Chance to team up with Giggs, Neville

They have been synonymous with Manchester United for more than two decades, winning numerous trophies during their playing careers. Now, football fans in Singapore will have a chance to count Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs as their team-mates.

The United duo will be in town next month for the inaugural five-a-side CF Cup 2017 tournament, held as part of the grand opening of The Arena on April 8-9.

The tournament is open to all amateur players and eight-man teams will compete in the qualifying rounds at the Woodleigh Park facility on April 1-2.

The finalists will face off on April 8, captained respectively by Neville and Giggs, who won eight English Premier League and two Champions League titles together.

Institute of Technical Education College Central graduate Dalvin Arumugam, 19, said: "It's really amazing. Giggs is my idol and playing alongside him would be a dream come true."

Accounts manager Kelvin Chua, 39 and a lifelong United supporter, said: "Neville will definitely be able to give a few great pointers to young players in Singapore."

Besides housing several pitches, The Arena also features Cafe Football Singapore, the first Asian franchise of the football-themed restaurant set up in Britain by Neville and Giggs.
