S-LEAGUE champions Tampines Rovers unveiled their marquee signing, Argentinian Martin Wagner, at a press conference this afternoon.
The 27-year-old midfielder is a former Primera Division - Argentina's top local league - player who has featured for the likes of Olimpo de Bahia Blanca and Racing Club de Avellaneda.
The team have also appointed a new coach in Nenad Bacina, 41, who last year guided Hougang United to eighth place in the S-League. The Croat also captained eight-time S-League champions Singapore Armed Forces FC in 2000 and 2002.
Said the 1.78m tall Wagner, through a translator: "I'm pleased to come to Tampines. I've met many good people here, from colleagues to players in the team. I wish to fulfil the expectations of the team and do my best to achieve good results."
Under the marquee player scheme, the S-League will subsidise about 30 per cent of the player's salary. The player is also not subject to the competition's salary cap of $10,000 a month.
