Bernd Stange's reign as Singapore national coach got off to a winning start in Yangon on Tuesday, as his Lions ran out 2-0 winners against hosts Myanmar.
Singapore took the lead in the 10th minute through a Khairul Amri header. They doubled their advantage two minutes later, Shaiful Esah blasting a 25-metre freekick into the roof of the net.
Myanmar had a penalty saved by Izwan Mahbud early in the second half, but rarely troubled the Singapore goalkeeper after that.
Stange handed a debut to promising youngster Adam Swandi. But the 17-year-old forward had a quiet game.
