Football: Neymar signs 5-year contract with Barcelona

SAO PAULO (AP) - Brazilian striker Neymar is officially a Barcelona player.

Neymar signed a five-year contract with the Spanish powerhouse on Monday, two days after announcing that he decided to pick the Catalan club instead of Real Madrid.

Neither Neymar nor Barcelona released financial details of the transfer, but Brazilian media said the Spanish club will pay about 30 million euros (S$48.9 million) for the 21-year-old star.

Neymar, who thrived with Brazilian club Santos, posted a message Monday on Twitter and Instagram saying that "here it ends this wonderful passage with a special club." Neymar will join up with Brazil's Confederations Cup squad on Tuesday.
