Football: LionsXII stay top of Malaysian Super League with easy 3-0 win over T-Team

The LionsXII continue their march towards the Malaysian Super League (MSL) title after a convincing 3-0 win over T-Team at Jalan Besar Stadium.

Skipper Shahril Ishak, named the 2012 Asean Footballer of the Year last month, continues his rich vein of form when he turned inside the penalty box in the 10th minute to fire past goalkeeper Iqbal Suhimi.

The 29-year-old then delivered two precise corner kicks in the 29th and 35th minutes for left-back Shakir Hamzah and striker Fazrul Nawaz respectively to head home.

Although the visitors tried to mount a comeback in the second-half, the LionsXII were seldom troubled and comfortably secured all three points.

V. Sundramoorthy's men now have 34 points from 16 games. The LionsXII are the only MSL side to have a perfect home record, with eight wins. With six matches left in the league, they remain on course for a first Malaysian championship since 1994.

T-Team, which hails from Terengganu, remained stranded in 11th in the 12-team table with 12 points.
