MADRID (AFP) - Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is a doubt for Spain's World Cup qualifier away to Finland with an injured thigh, the Catalan club said Monday.

Tests on the 25-year-old revealed a pulled muscle in the back of his right thigh, Barcelona said in a statement.

"The club's medical services believe there is a risk to the muscle and have been in contact with the Spanish federation to evaluate the players' fitness and his place in the next international games," they said.

Spain need to win all three of their remaining qualifiers to guarantee the right to defend their title in Brazil next year without having to go through the play-offs in November.

They face a World Cup qualifier away to Finland on Friday and a friendly against Chile in Geneva, Switzerland on September 10.

The world champions finish their campaign with home matches against Georgia and Belarus in October.

Spain lead France by a single point in Group I with three matches left to play.
