LONDON (AFP) - England football manager Roy Hodgson has made the unusual move of revealing his starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier against Moldova at Wembley later on Friday.

Captain Steven Gerrard is due to be partnered in midfield by Frank Lampard and Jack Wilshere for the first time, while injuries to Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge mean Southampton's Rickie Lambert starts up front.

England have four games remaining in their bid to reach next year's World Cup Finals in Brazil, playing away to Ukraine on Tuesday before home games against Montenegro and Poland next month.

They currently trail leaders Montenegro by two points in European qualifying Group H, but have a game in hand.

England team to play Moldova (4-3-3):

Joe Hart; Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole; Steven Gerrard (capt), Jack Wilshere, Frank Lampard; Theo Walcott, Rickie Lambert, Danny Welbeck
