Football: Figueroa joins Johor Darul Takzim from Panathinaikos for $1.3m

ATHENS (AFP) - Argentinian striker Luciano Figueroa has been sold to Malaysian Super League (MSL) football club Johor Darul Takzim, Panathinaikos announced on Tuesday.

The Athens-based Greek Super League team said the transfer fee was worth 750,000 euros (S$1.3 million).

Figueroa, 32, has signed a three-year deal with the Malaysian club, who were third in the MSL last season, for a reported US$1.5 million (S$1.9 million) annually.

The former Argentina international joined Panathinaikos earlier this year and played in 15 matches, scoring six goals.

His previous clubs include Boca Juniors, Genoa, River Plate, Villarreal and Birmingham City.

He becomes the fourth current foreign player at the Johor side, joining his countryman Pablo Aimar and two Singapore internationals Baihakki Khaizan and Hariss Harun.
