Football: Fifa to start selling 2014 World Cup tickets in August

ZURICH (AP) - Tickets for 2014 World Cup matches in Brazil will go on sale on Aug 20.

Fifa, world football's governing body, says the first sales phase will begin when "football fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets via".

Ticket prices are scheduled to be confirmed at a July 1 news conference, the day after the Confederations Cup final in Rio de Janeiro.

Fifa has previously said it expects around 3.3 million tickets to be available for the 64-match flagship tournament from June 12-July 13.

The first round of ticket sales should be allocated in a worldwide lottery.

Further tickets will be available after the 32-team line-up is confirmed in November.

The World Cup draw will be conducted on Dec 6 in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.
