Football: FAS hire ex-German international Harald Irmscher as national team trainer

The Football Association of Singapore has announced the appointment of Harald Irmscher as National Teams Trainer on a one-year contract, with an option to extend for another year.

His immediate task is to work with the head coaches of all national teams - including the National 'A' team, Under-23s, Young Lions and the National Football Academy - to introduce and implement a standard post-match evaluation template.

A former player for the East Germany national side with 41 caps, Irmscher's other responsibilities include introducing and implementing individual training programmes together with other coaches for players and talents from the various national teams, and support national coach Bernd Stange in the scouting and selection of players.

Irmscher, 67, will also support Stange in the development of local coaches.
